Christina Aguilera tweeted her support for Lady Gaga’s decision to remove the R. Kelly duet “Do What U Want” from streaming services and digital music retailers, days after the Lifetime documentary series Surviving R. Kelly put a spotlight on numerous allegations of sexual abuse against the R&B singer.

Resurfacing photos of a 2013 performance of her and Gaga performing "Do What U Want" on The Voice, Aguilera took to Twitter on Friday (Jan. 11) to remind people that there's another, R. Kelly-free version of the song. “This is a reminder of women sticking together -- and not letting a man take ownership of a great song/moment,” she wrote in the tweet.

Gaga kept her promise of removing the ARTPOP track with R. Kelly from digital music services soon after stating that it was an example of how "explicitly twisted" her state of mind was at the time her album was released. However, you can still stream the studio version of Aguilera and Gaga's “Do What U Want.”

Aguilera also addressed the song's lyrics in her tweet, writing, “The message of this song remains that although you may have had my body, you will never have my heart, my voice my life or my mind.”

The 38-year-old singer added that as a survivor, the song’s lyrics have a special meaning to her. “Being a survivor of past predators myself, these lines spoke to me, which is why I did the song. I embrace all survivors of sexual and domestic violence and abuse holding a special place in my heart, and you @ladygaga, for doing the right thing!” she wrote in a thread to the initial post.
