Nathan Sykes dated Ariana Grande briefly in 2013, but didn't make the cut in the songstress' name dropping new single, "thank u, next."

TMZ spoke to him at LAX on Wednesday (Nov. 7), and he didn't seem to be bothered about being left out of the tune--in fact, he hadn't even heard it yet. "That’s good," Sykes responded with a laugh when the interviewer noted that his name isn't heard in the lyrics.

"I hear its amazing and that’s fantastic," he continued. "I think people are releasing good music and are happy with the music they’re releasing."

When asked what Grande would have learned from their brief relationship, the former The Wanted crooner noted that he wouldn't "tell anyone what they can learn from me." When asked what he learned, he kept it vague: "It was a long time ago so you never really—I suppose you just grow as a person, don’t you?"
